Welcome to Roatan Alive

Our Vision is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and make Him known by presenting the biblical message of salvation to the people of Roatan!

About the Mission

Roatan Alive was founded under the leading of Darla Cherrington Sutherland, a native of Roatan, Honduras. Throughout her walk with Christ, she enjoys teaching and encouraging women through mentorship, bible studies and community events, yet her greatest thrill is to see those women growing in a deeper relationship with Christ and serving wholeheartedly.

How It All Began

In 2006, Darla felt led by the lord to return to her homeland to conduct a Women’s Conference. After a year of praying with 12 sisters in Christ, Darla began to share her vision with other members of the church. She was encouraged to go to Roatan to speak with community leaders there, and so she did. However, as Darla connected with church leaders and members of the community in Roatan, it became evident that there were other groups that also needed encouragement. It was then that Roatan Mission was born, with the Intent to serve the people of Roatan by offering various events for couples, men, women, teens and children. “Roatan Alive” became the name for the two week mission that brings members of the body of Christ in North America to work alongside and encourage the churches in Roatan, in order to share Christ, to build up the body of believers, and to strengthen the family unit. And in 2008, the first mission trip took place and we have returned to Roatan every year since then.
